I know two female friends who earn more than their husbands. In one relationship it seems to cause no problems at all. In the other, it seems to rear its head a lot. They seem to have power struggles all the time. I think his masculinity is threaten.

It pretty hard to shake generations of cultural stereotypes(?)/norms. A lot of guys are bound by stuff even older...hunters out slaying the beasts!

The article calls it 'cultural weight'. I like that term it certainly applies to this situation. But just think about all the different kinds of cultural pressure we fall under...even if its just related to money issues/materialism.
