I've read this prediction many times before. I doubt the writer is right, mostly because nobody has been before when they predicted the US consumer was done. If he's right, things are really going to get interesting.

I know I've cut back. Not so much because my personal situation feels precarious, but because things seem difficult in general and that leads me to be cautious. I guess knowing the general economic climate and unsure of where things will go, up or down, leads me to be more frugal.
