"How universities and alumni associations profit by marketing undergrads to financial giants - like Bank of America."

Kind of sicken isn't it? Now I'm reading where funding for college loans is drying up. Not profitable enough I suppose. I wonder if anyone thinks having our young people obtain higher education is in the national best interest?

What can we do about all this? Thats my question. Nobody seems to see the big picture. Its all about what can I get now.

I'd say that right NOW, there's nothing anyone can do about it. Sure, you can get a lobby going in Washington to put a stop to these shenanigans, but then what are our universities supposed to do about funding? I've got a suspicion that education is getting cut across the board. Our schools are probably underfunded. I don't imagine the schools took this move lightly AT ALL.
What we can all DO NOW is be aware of this, and simply turn our noses up. We need to tell our kids, so they can skirt the trap and continue their education.

Yep the kids need to be better prepared for the perils of credit card use, so first the parents need to learn the lesson in order to pass it on to their children.

I think the universities, and I bet its most of them, really need to take a look at their code of ethics. Some of the recent activity...student loans, prostituting themselves to the financial industry...seem at odds with their intended purpose.
