Pretty powerful article here. I'm curious about what folks are thinking. Interesting to read about the negatives of the free market, particularly in the day of globaliztion.

Good article for me too. The statistics noted are dramatic.

And I like the question raised by the author: why are we so materialistic? One interesting explanation I've heard is that we have become so disconnected from one another that it is only thru material symbols that we can identify who we are in the community at large.

I think I'll buy this book.

The unencumbered free-market seems to be coming under a lot of criticism these days. So does our growing extreme individualism.
